Cognac Ferrand is one of the most exciting distilleries in France. The operation is set within the walls of Château de Bonbonnet and focusses not only on cognac, but has also added a line of other fine spirits to its broad selection.
In its current form, Cognac Ferrand was founded in 1989, when the visionary Alexandre Gabriel met up with the historic ‘cognac family’ of Pierre Ferrand in order to discuss the future of cognac - beyond the confines of uniform mass production.
Amidst the vineyards in Ars (Cognac), Departement Charente, substantial investments were made in Cognac Ferrand in order to live up to the high quality standards it has set for itself. In addition to cognac from its own 110 hectare vineyards in the heart of the Grande Champagne winegrowing region, Ferrand also distils other spirits, for example its gin Citadelle.
Ferrand’s rum creations are particularly exciting: They are plantation rums originating from various different regions in South and Central America. In the 1990s, Alexandre Gabriel searched out the very best rum distillates and made a selection from the most exciting casks. It is for that reason that Ferrand’s plantation rums come from such exotic countries as Panama, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Guyana. In addition to highest quality, all of the rums are dressed up in the typical woven palm-leaf coverings that have traditionally protected the bottles from breakage.
