In the glass, the Cru Sainte-Epine Saint-Joseph from Delas Frères offers a dense purple color. With a bit of lateral position, the Bordeaux glass reveals a charming garnet red tone at the edges. Given some air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, evident in distinct church windows at the rim of the glass. To the nose, this Delas Frères red wine reveals all sorts of blueberries, mulberries, blackberries and black currants. As if that wasn't already impressive, gingerbread spice, oriental spices and vanilla join the mix due to the aging in small wooden barrels.
On the palate, the Cru Sainte-Epine Saint-Joseph from Delas Frères opens wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by an immensely dense texture. In the finish, this well storable red wine from the wine-growing region Rhône Valley finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and black currant. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by slate and granite are added.
Vinification of the Delas Frères Cru Sainte-Epine Saint-Joseph
This powerful red wine from France is made from the Syrah grape variety. The grapes grow in optimal conditions in Rhône Valley. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of slate and granite. Cru Sainte-Epine Saint-Joseph is an Old World wine through and through, as this Frenchman breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the hand harvest, the grapes arrive swiftly at the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Cru Sainte-Epine Saint-Joseph is aged for another 14 months in oak barrels.
