A fairytale castle in the midst of the vines
In the Pouilly-Fume wine-growing region, Château Nozet, a 19th century Renaissance château situated in the middle of one of the largest wineries in the area, rises up. The Lafond family has owned the estate since 1787, which according to legend produced Napoleon's favourite white wines. Today, Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, a descendant of the Lafond family, runs the estate. With his training as a winemaker and his full-time dedication, he led the wines of the estate to world fame and acquired additional vineyards at Tours, Chablis and Sancerre. In this way, the portfolio was extended beyond the Pouilly Fumé wines.
Today, the estate covers about 1000 hectares of vineyards. 6600 vines per hectare are stretched out towards the sun. The name Pouilly-Fumé (fumé - smoked) comes from the flint soils of the area, which smoke and produce sparks when they are smoked together. In addition, clay, marl and lime are also found in the soil of the vineyards. The flint gives the wines from Pouilly-Fumé a smoky characteristic.
World class from the Loire
The flagship of the estate is the Baron de L., which is only vinified in the best vintages. Today, he represents the highest quality wines that come from the Loire region. The Chablis wines by Ladoucette are also special because, contrary to regional tradition, they are not aged in barrels.
With the wines by De Ladoucette, they bring home a piece of world class in the bottle. A suitable wine for true connoisseurs and lovers of the French art of winemaking.
Tenute del Barone
In addition to the wines of de Ladoucette, Baron Patrick has also rediscovered his Italian roots. His grandmother came from the Sicilian family of the Vallombrosas. His fondness for Mediterranean cuisine and its wines eventually led Patrick de Ladoucette to acquire an estate in Tuscany and market it under the name Tenute del Barone.
