The Diamante d'Almerita passito Terre Siciliane IGT by Tenuta Regaleali of Tasca d'Almerita is a tribute to the diamond wedding of Conte Giuseppe to his wife Franca.
Diamante d'Almerita passito shines golden yellow in the glass, with intense aromas of candied oranges, apricots and raisins, yellow roses, citronella, orange honey and a hint of pepper on the nose. On the palate, this Passito shows elegant mellowness, a beautiful balance between sweetness and natural acidity, pleasant freshness and light spiciness, a multi-faceted pleasure that ends in a long, lasting finish with delicate citrus notes.
Vinification of the Diamante d'Almerita passito by Tenuta Regaleali
This exclusive Sicilian sweet wine ties in with the tradition of sweet wines that have always been produced in Sicily on the coast and on the islands. However, the grapes grow in high hills in the heart of the island, in the highest vineyards of the Tenuta Regaleali.
For Diamante d'Almerita, 60% Gewürztraminer and 40% muscatel are dried in the shade on straw mats to preserve the typical aromas of the grape varieties. The dried grapes are then pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. No malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine matures for 6 months in stainless steel tanks and another 4 months in bottles.
The first Diamante was created in 1994 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the marriage of Conte Giuseppe and his wife Franca, and remains a family wine for special occasions for many years. It has only been available for lovers of sweet dessert wines since 2003 and has received several awards since then.
