The name Pellehaut comes from the Roman word pila, which means a particularly powerful spear. The family history of the Béraut family, which owns the Domaine de Pellehaut, is just as rich in history as the name: For more than 300 years, the family has been living and working in Montréal-du-Gers, where they live from the cultivation of their wines. The family owns vineyards around the Château de Pellehaut - a castle surrounded by many impressive legends.
Today, the brothers Martin and Mathieu Béraut run the Domaine de Pellehaut winery and produce first-class, inexpensive country wines here. The climate here is dominated by many hours of sunshine and the warm hairdryer blowing down from the Pyrenees. The microclimatic conditions are ideal for the cultivation of e. g. Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and allow concentrated fruits to grow in the aroma. These are processed in the Domaine de Pellehaut into delicious white wines.
