The light-footed Horgelus Rouge Merlot Tannat from Domaine Horgelus flows into the glass with a brilliant purple color. In the glass, this red wine from Domaine Horgelus offers aromas of plums, morello cherries, blackberries, blueberries and plums, complemented by oriental spices, cinnamon and cocoa bean. The Domaine Horgelus Horgelus Rouge Merlot Tannat presents itself to the wine drinker wonderfully dry. This red wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine beyond the 4-euro mark. In the finish, this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Gascony finally inspires with good length. Once again, hints of plum and blackberry show through. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and clay are added.
Vinification of the Domaine Horgelus Horgelus Rouge Merlot Tannat
The basis for the first-class and wonderfully elegant cuvée Horgelus Rouge Merlot Tannat from Domaine Horgelus are Merlot and Tannat grapes. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Gascony. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay, sand, clay and marl. The berries for this red wine from France are harvested, at the time of optimal ripeness, exclusively by hand. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
