Domaine Notre Dame des Pallieres
The Domaine Notre Dame des Palliéres, a traditional family estate managed by the cousins Jean-Pierre and Claude Roux, is located in the French wine-growing region of Côtes du Rhône and covers 65 hectares, of which 15 hectares comprise the Gigondas vineyards in the Petit Vallée du Trignon. Here, in the traditional Provencal farmstead, the famous spring of Notre Dame des Palliéres has its origins. Already in the Middle Ages this spring was a popular stopover for pilgrims. In times marked by plague and disease, this source of water was the last hope for many people as healing powers were attributed to water.
In addition to the vineyards in Gigondas, the estate also owns vineyards in Lirac, Sablet, Rasteau, Seguret and Côtes du Rhône. The most important grape variety is Grenache, which is produced from ancient vines and produces extremely low yields. But Domaine Notre Dame des Palliéres is not about mass, not modern wines like many make. Notre Dame des Palliéres places great emphasis on tradition and meticulous vineyard work. This results in French wines that are juicy, balsamic, long and persistent - real wines for connoisseurs.
