De Oude Drostdy Estate, as Drostdy Hof was originally called, was founded in 1804 in the village of Tulbagh. Tulbagh is located 125 km northeast of Cape Town, in the Breede River Valley, a well-known South African wine growing region.  The estate is part of the Distell Group, which distributes various wines and spirits in South Africa.

A large portfolio of grape varieties and wines is produced under the Drostdy brand. Among them are varieties typical for South Africa like Pinotage, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. White, red and rosé wines as well as sparkling wines are offered.
