More information
The El Rapolao from Raul Perez is an elegant, opulent red wine cuvée from the Spanish wine-growing region DO Bierzo, vinified from the grape varieties Mencia, Bastadro and Garncha Tintorera.
With a rich ruby red and purple highlights, this wine shimmers in the glass. The fine bouquet reveals wonderfully diverse aromatics - ranging from fine wild berries and blueberries, to floral notes and a hint of rosemary, to spices. The palate is taken by a beautifully opulent elegance. Firm tannins are well integrated into the body and are accompanied by the spicy-herbal aromas of the nose. Expressive, balanced, this wine closes with a long finish.
Vinification of the Raul Perez El Rapolao
The grapes for this red wine grow in the El Rapolao vineyard in Bierzo, Spain. The vines are on average 80 years old and grow at an altitude of 500 meters on quartz and slate soils.
From September to October, the grapes for this red wine are harvested by hand. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they are first fermented in 500-liter barrels with the stems. This is followed by maceration for 40-60 days. In French oak barrels (second occupancy) this red wine rounds off harmoniously for 12 months before being bottled unfiltered.
Food recommendation for the El Rapolao Bierzo Raul Perez
This dry red wine from Spain goes perfectly with Boeuf Bourguignon with boiled potatoes or also with various braised meats fresh from the oven.
