More information about Elpidios - David & Nadia

The barrel-aged Elpidios from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape reveals itself in the glass in bright purple. If you give it some air in the wine glass by swirling, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out on the glass walls in a watery, syrupy or liqueur-like manner. This South African cuvée reveals wonderfully expressive notes of plums and blackberries in the glass. This is joined by hints of black tea.

The David & Nadia Elpidios impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine icon wine segment, this South African naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all dryness. Taste does not necessarily need a lot of residual sugar. On the tongue, this balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. In the finish, this well storable wine from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and plum.

Vinification of the Elpidios by David & Nadia

The balanced Elpidios from South Africa is a cuvée, made from the grape varieties Grenache Noir, Carignan, Cinsault and Syrah. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in small wood and large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for David & Nadia Elpidios

This South African is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to duck breast with snow peas, osso buco or braised chicken in red wine.
