More information
The multiple award-winning Excellent Reserve from the wine-growing region of Vienna reveals itself in the glass in dense purple. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in church windows at the edge of the glass. This Austrian cuvée presents wonderfully expressive notes of morello cherry, plum, black cherry and plum in the glass. These are joined by hints of other fruits.
This Austrian wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with 2.6 grams of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this Austrian enchants naturally with all dryness with the finest balance. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. This creamy and melting red wine presents itself on the palate full of pressure and complexity. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Excellent Reserve flatters with a soft mouthfeel, without lacking juicy liveliness. In the finish, this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Vienna finally inspires with considerable length. Once again, hints of plum and black cherry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and clay are added.
Vinification of the Pfaffl Excellent Reserve Winery
The basis for the powerful Excellent Reserve from Vienna are grapes from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zweigelt. In Vienna, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of loam, sand and clay. Clearly, Excellent Reserve is also determined by climatic and stylistic factors of the Weinviertel. This Austrian can literally be described as an Old World wine that presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive manner. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Excellent Reserve is aged for 18 months in oak barrels.
Food recommendation for the Excellent Reserve from Weingut Pfaffl
This Austrian wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, veal boiled beef with beans and tomatoes or cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables.
