More information
The Fabio Contato Lugana from Cà Maiol in Lombardy has a bright, light yellow color in the glass. After the first swirl, you can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. This single-varietal Italian wine presents wonderfully fragrant notes of lemons, grapefruit, orange blossom and lemongrass in the glass. There are also hints of Mediterranean herbs, forest floor and sun-warmed rock.
On the palate, the Fabio Contato Lugana from Cà Maiol starts off pleasantly aromatic, fruity and balanced. On the palate, this balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly silky, smooth and light texture. Thanks to its moderate fruit acidity, Fabio Contato Lugana flatters the palate with a pleasing sensation without lacking freshness. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Lombardy wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of jasmine and pomelo. Mineral notes from the clay-dominated soil are added to the finish.
Vinification of the Cà Maiol Fabio Contato Lugana
This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Trebbiano. Only flawless grapes were used for this wonderfully balanced single-varietal wine from Cà Maiol. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Lombardy. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into clay soils. There is no doubt that Fabio Contato Lugana is determined by more than just the Lugana DOC soil. This Italian wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, presenting itself as extraordinarily fragrant. The fact that the Trebbiano grapes thrive in a rather cool climate also has a major influence on the ripeness of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. The grapes for this white wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimum ripeness. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
