The Fairtrade Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon from the pen of Peter Mertes from the Western Cape reveals a bright, ruby red color in the wine glass. This South African cuvée presents wonderfully expressive notes of plum, blackberry, blueberry and sour cherry in the glass. There are also hints of blackcurrant.
This red wine from Peter Mertes is perfect for wine drinkers who would prefer 0.0 grams of sugar in their wine. The Fairtrade Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 1 gram of residual sugar. The texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully velvety on the palate. Thanks to the moderate fruit acidity, the Fairtrade Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon flatters the palate with a soft feel without lacking any juicy liveliness. The finish of this red wine from the Western Cape wine-growing region convinces with a beautiful aftertaste. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Fairtrade Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months.
