More information
The Faustino I Gran Reserva 75 Aniversario from the pen of Bodegas Faustino of La Rioja presents a bright ruby color in the swirled glass. At the rim, this Spanish red also shows a transition to the brick-colored... After the first swirl, one can perceive a first class balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. The nose of this red wine from La Rioja captivates with hints of plum jam, plum, morello cherry and rum pot. If we trace the aromatics further, gingerbread spice, cocoa bean and vanilla come in, enhanced by the oak influence.
This Spanish wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the top wine range, this Spaniard naturally enraptures with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Aroma does not necessarily need sugar. In the finish, this very storable from the wine-growing region of La Rioja finally delights with exceptional length. There are again hints of blueberry and plum.
Vinification of the Faustino I Gran Reserva 75 Aniversario from Bodegas Faustino
The basis for the balanced Faustino I Gran Reserva 75 Aniversario from La Rioja are grapes from the Mazuelo, Graciano and Tempranillo varieties. Faustino I Gran Reserva 75 Aniversario is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Spaniard exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The fact that the Mazuelo, Graciano and Tempranillo grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has an influence on the ripening of the grapes that cannot be dismissed. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and rather high alcohol content in the wine. After the grape harvest, the grapes are taken to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Then fermentation takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
