The Große Riesling Gewächs from the Fellbacher Lämmler of Aldinger is one of the flagships of the winery just outside Stuttgart. In the glass, this great VDP Gewächs comes with bright citrus yellow. This Riesling caresses the nose with superbly complex aromas of delicate mirabelle plum, ripe white-fleshed peach and fresh pineapple. Floral notes of peony and spicy nuances reminiscent of cardamom join in. Fine, mineral notes perfectly round off the bouquet of this first-class white wine from Wüttemberg.
On the palate, Aldingers Fellbacher Lämmler Riesling Großes Gewächs reveals a nice grip, firm acidity and good extract. A wonderfully balanced Riesling that makes a perfect double with its brother from Untertürkheimer Gips.
Vinification of the Aldinger Fellbacher Lämmler Riesling Großes Gewächs
This Großes Gewächs according to VDP statute is fermented 100% in large wooden barrels and then stored for 10 months on the full yeast. At the end, bottling takes place after restrained filtration. The grapes grow in Fellbacher Lämmler on characterful reed sandstone weathered soils and variegated marl, i.e. material from the middle Keuper, which gives the wine a fine minerality and full body.
