Firriato is one of the leading wine producers in Sicily.
Firriato combines quality and passion
The wineries of the company, which was founded in the 1980s, are located on over 300 hectares in the western, as well as the eastern part of the Mediterranean island. The high level of these wines is maintained despite the large production of over four million bottles a year. The wines often combine autochthonous and international grape varieties.
Passion and love of their homeland were the decisive factors for the founding of Firriato by the young entrepreneurs Salvatore Di Gaetano and his wife Vinzia Novara. In a region that has been used for centuries for agriculture and viticulture, they continue the tradition and in a few years managed to achieve international fame and recognition.
In addition to passion, quality is another characteristic that is reflected in the development of the company. Gaetano and Novara pursue these values not only in the rediscovery of indigenous varieties and the reinterpretation of international ones - in every aspect of their work, from the soil, to the cellars, to sales and customer relations, these ideals are upheld. The result is high-quality Sicilian wines with an international reach.
Multifaceted nature as inspiration for Firriato
A significant source of inspiration for Firriato 's wines is the diversity of the island. This unique "continent" of Sicily encompasses landscapes that could not be more different, yet are united in their exceptionality, including the Trapani area as well as the region around Mount Etna and the island of Favignana. These three regions are home to the company's estates. Firriato's wines thus take us on a journey through the multifaceted nature of Sicily, carried by the magic, colors, traditions and flavors of the island.
On Favignana, the largest of the Egadi islands west of Sicily, Firriato has fulfilled a great dream by cultivating a vine that has long disappeared. Between red sand and tufa, the vines are now growing for an ambitious and incomparable project. On the slopes of the famous volcano Etna is a second sanctuary for the company. Further vineyards are located in the rural surroundings of Trapani.
The producer's range includes an extensive selection of wines from local and international grape varieties, as well as special creations from rare varieties.
The extensive portfolio includes:
- Etna and Cavanera from the Etna region
- Camelot, Santagostino, Harmonium, L'Ecrù and Chiaramonte from the area around Trapani, where a total of four Firriato wineries are located
- Favinia from the island of Favignana
Only the best grapes are used for the wines. The production process combines knowledge, years of experience and state-of-the-art technologies. Every step of the long process is carried out with care, guaranteeing high quality. Firriato 's vision is to produce great wines with a personality that reflect the characteristics and elegance of the land. The fact that the careful and qualitative work is worthwhile is also shown by awards such as from Robert Parker and"Two Red Glasses" from Gambero Rosso.
The increasing appreciation by gourmet restaurants from all over the world also proves that Firriato has a sure sense of consumer taste.
Due to its international orientation, the company can be considered one of the best examples of commercial success in Sicily. In particular, customers in Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Norway appreciate the wines of this brand. Thanks to its dynamism and passion, Firriato is able to reinforce its existing international contacts and, at the same time, to open up new markets, first and foremost the Asian market.
