Deep in the south-west of France, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, the Pyrenees and the Garonnne River, which flows into the sea near Bordeaux, lies the Gascony. Here, where the Comte d'Artagnan, known as the 4th musketeer in the bestseller by Alexandre Dumas, resided at his castle Castelmore, not only the famous Armagnac is produced, but also grandiose wines make up Gascony.
Fleur de d'Artagnan - Wine homage to Alexandre Dumas
An example of this is the Fleur de d'Artagnan wine series - the flower of d'Artagnan - from the Plaimont winery. Fleur de d'Artagnan stands for spirited, honest and fresh wines from the classic grape varieties of Gascony.
For Fleur de d'Artagnan wines, Plaimont naturally focuses on the regional classics
- Ugni Blanc
But of course, the charm and world fame of the not so distant Bordelais cannot harm Fleur de d'Artagnan wines, which is why the classics
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Sauvignon Blanc
will be received. Together they form the foundation on which the success of the Plaimont cooperative in the Saint-Mont appellation in the south-west French department of Gers is based. Here, on the divide between the continental and maritime climates, Fleur de d'Artagnan wines capture an enormous richness and freshness that is certainly not found everywhere.
Between Atlantic & Pyrenees - perfect terroir
A story of Fleur de d'Artagnan wines cannot be told without outlining the success of Plaimont. At the end of the 1970s, committed winegrowers from the communes of Plaisance, Aignan and Saint Mont joined forces to put the Côtes de Gascogne on the world wine list. This explains the name, as Pl stands for Plaisance, Ai for Aignan and Mont for Saint Mont.
