On the palate, this balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly smooth and light texture. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, Friulano Collio is impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this mature white wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine-growing region, or more precisely from Collio Goriziano, is impressive with its remarkable persistence. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the marl and clay-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Friulano Collio from Conventi
This balanced white wine from Italy is made from the Friulano grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into clay and marl soils. The Friulano Collio is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World.
Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Friulano Collio are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After manual harvesting, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled. Ageing in wooden barrels is followed by considerable bottle ageing, which makes this white wine even more complex.
