The Gaia Red Blend from Domaine Bousquet is a complex, multi-layered and excellent red wine cuvée from the Argentinian wine-growing region Tupungato in Mendoza. Organic grapes (Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon) are vinified.
This wine presents itself in a deep violet with a black core in the glass. The nose enjoys a very fruity aroma that reveals red and black currants and dark plums. Spicy, dried herbal notes are added. On the palate this Argentine red wine has a juicy body, which is supported by a round, soft tannin structure. The acidity is wonderfully integrated. The aromatic complexity of the nose extends into the pleasantly long finish.
Vinification of the Bousquet Gaia
Only organically grown grapes are used for this cuvée. The vines are rooted in Tupungato - Alto Gualtallary - at an altitude of 1200 metres, in gravelly and sandy soils.
The harvest of Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes begins at the beginning of April. When the grapes arrive in the Bousquet cellar, they are cold macerated for 72 hours. The must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 27 degrees Celsius for 12 days. This is followed by a further maceration of 14 days. This wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.
