In the glass, the Gewurztraminer Cuvée of the Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre from the house of Trimbach shows a dense copper-gold color. In the middle, the tone transitions to a vibrant golden yellow color. After the first swirl, this white wine reveals a high density and richness, which is evident in church windows at the edge of the glass. To the nose, this Trimbach white wine shows all sorts of lime, papaya, pineapple, lime and mirabelle. As if that wasn't already impressive, gingerbread spice, oriental spices and cocoa bean join the mix due to aging in large wooden barrels.
On the tongue, this punchy white wine is characterized by an incredibly melting and dense texture. Finally, on the finish, this matured from the Alsace wine region delights with considerable length. Once again, hints of physalis and orange appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the limestone and marl dominated soils are added.
Vinification of the Gewurztraminer Cuvée of the Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre of Trimbach
This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Gewürztraminer. Only impeccable grape material was harvested for this wonderfully powerful varietal wine from Trimbach. In Alsace, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone and marl. Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Frenchman breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The ripening of the grapes for this Gewürztraminer wine is influenced to a very high degree by the climate of the growing region. In Alsace, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and a rather moderate must weight. The grapes for this white wine from France, when perfectly ripe, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly transferred to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre is aged for another 48 months in oak barrels.
