More information about Gherardino Riserva DOCG - Vignamaggio

The Vignamaggio Gherardino Riserva is a first-class red wine. It offers a wonderfully dense, ruby red color. If you hold the glass at a slight angle, you can see a transition of the wine's color towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. When swirling the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in the clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The nose of this red wine from Tuscany enchants with hints of blackcurrant, black cherry, mulberry and blueberry. If we trace the aromas further, the oak wood influence adds bitter chocolate, cinnamon and gingerbread spice.

The Vignamaggio Gherardino Riserva is wonderfully dry. This red wine is never coarse or austere, but round and smooth. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety texture. With its present fruit acidity, the Gherardino Riserva is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. On the finish, this mature red wine from the Tuscan wine-growing region finally delights with its beautiful length. There are again hints of morello cherry and blackberry.

Vinification of the Vignamaggio Gherardino Riserva

This powerful red wine from Italy is made from the Merlot and Sangiovese grape varieties. The Gherardino Riserva is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Gherardino Riserva is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Dining recommendations for the Gherardino Riserva from Vignamaggio

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to duck breast with sugar snap peas, boeuf bourguignon or roast veal liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce.
