More information about Grauburgunder trocken - Weingut Dönnhoff

The elegant Pinot Gris from Weingut Dönnhoff flows into the glass with a bright copper gold color. After the first swirl, one can perceive a perfect balance in this white wine, as it stands out on the walls of the glass neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. To the nose, this Weingut Dönnhoff white wine reveals all sorts of pears and mirabelles. As if that were not already impressive, the aging in large wooden barrels adds further aromas such as mineral.

The Pinot Gris from Weingut Dönnhoff is perfect for all wine connoisseurs who like it dry. However, it is never sparse or brittle, as you would expect from a wine premium and site wine segment. On the tongue, this balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp texture. Due to its present fruit acidity, the Pinot Gris reveals itself to be fantastically fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of the Nahe finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of pear and mirabelle. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by loess soil and weathered rock join in.

Vinification of the Pinot Gris from Weingut Dönnhoff

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, Pinot Gris. For this exceptionally balanced varietal wine from Weingut Dönnhoff, only impeccable grapes were harvested. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Nahe. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of loess and weathered rock. Grauburgunder is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The berries for this white wine from Germany, after ensuring optimal ripeness, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the elegant Pinot Gris is aged for 6 months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Weingut Dönnhoff Pinot Gris

This German white wine is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to coconut-lime fish curry, vegetable salad with beetroot or spaghetti with yogurt-mint pesto.
