The Green Grüner Veltliner from Johann Topf in Lower Austria reveals a brilliant platinum yellow color in the swirled glass. This single-varietal Austrian wine shows wonderfully expressive notes of pears, kumquats, lemons and lemongrass in the glass. These are joined by hints of other fruits.
This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 1 gram of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this Austrian enchants naturally with all dryness with the finest balance. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the tongue, this light-footed white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp texture. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Green Grüner Veltliner flatters the palate with a soft feel, without at the same time lacking in juicy liveliness. In the finish, this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria finally inspires with good length. Hints of pink grapefruit and kumquat are again apparent.
Vinification of the Johann Topf Green Grüner Veltliner
Basis for the elegant Green Grüner Veltliner from Lower Austria are grapes from the grape variety Grüner Veltliner. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Green Grüner Veltliner is left to mature on its fine lees for a few months.
