This white wine never appears coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine in the upper price range. Balanced and complex, this melting white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Grohsartig Weißburgunder Chardonnay reveals itself to be fantastically fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this youthful wine from the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of lemongrass and lemon. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by limestone and marl join in.
Vinification of the Grohsartig Weißburgunder Chardonnay from Groh
The basis for the first-class and wonderfully balanced Cuvée Grohsartig Weißburgunder Chardonnay from Groh are Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc grapes. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Rheinhessen. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of limestone and marl. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Grohsartig Weißburgunder Chardonnay is allowed to further harmonize on the fine lees for 4 months.
