More information
The Grüner Veltliner Terrassen Smaragd from Domäne Wachau is a juicy, varietal white wine from the Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau.
In the glass, this wine shimmers in bright, brilliantly luminous straw yellow. The bouquet of this Wachau classic is open and accessible, subtle and playful. The fragrance enchants with aromas of ripe apple, delicate citrus notes as well as a hint of tobacco. There is also a classic pepperiness, combined with fruity pear and quince. On the palate, this Veltliner from Austria is pleasantly powerful, yet also very approachable and well-balanced with a lively, refreshing acidity. Again, one senses the juicy fruit nuances, plenty of spice and a hint of dried herbs. This Austrian white wine closes with a long finish.
Vinification of the Terrassen Smaragd Grüner Veltliner Domäne Wachau
By hand, the grapes are harvested laboriously only in late October to early November in the steep terraces. Due to the strict selection, only perfect, healthy grapes reach the wine cellar of Domäne Wachau. At cool temperatures, the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks. Initially, this white wine remains in the steel tanks before it is finally placed in large wooden barrels for a short time.
