More information
The elegant Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg from the house of Johann Topf glides into the glass with a bright platinum yellow color. If you swirl the wine glass, you can perceive a perfect balance in this white wine, because it stands out on the glass walls neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. The first nose of Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg flatters with nuances of lemongrass, grapefruit and apricots. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by sun-warmed rocks, green peppers and juniper.
The Johann Topf Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg presents itself to the wine connoisseur wonderfully dry. This white wine is never coarse or meager, but round and smooth. Balanced and complex, this dense white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg flatters with a pleasing palate without lacking freshness. The final of this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria, more precisely from Kamptal, finally convinces with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the soils dominated by granite and silicate rock.
Vinification of the Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg by Johann Topf
This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Grüner Veltliner. Only immaculate grape material was harvested for this wonderfully balanced single-varietal wine from Johann Topf. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Lower Austria. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of slate, granite and silicate rock. The Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg is an Old World wine through and through, as this Austrian exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
