More information
The barrel-aged Hill Side White from the wine-growing region the Burgenland presents itself in the glass in dense golden yellow, copper gold. Swiveling the wine glass, this white wine reveals a high viscosity, which is reflected in church windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this white wine from Burgenland charms with notes of pineapple, mango, papaya and gallia melon. If we trace the aromatics further, brittle, roasted almond and whole-nut chocolate are added, aided by the oak influence.
This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with 5.5 grams of residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a premium, single-vineyard wine, this Austrian naturally enraptures with the finest balance for all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need a lot of sugar. With its lively fruit acidity, Hill Side White presents itself impressively fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Burgenland finally thrills with beautiful length. Again, hints of physalis and star fruit show.
Vinification of the Leo Hillinger Hill Side White
The powerful Hill Side White from Austria is a cuvée, organically produced from the grape varieties Pinot Gris, Yellow Muscat and Chardonnay. Hill Side White is an Old World wine through and through, as this Austrian exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The ripening of the grapes for this wine made from Pinot Gris, Gelber Muskateller and Chardonnay is influenced to a very high degree by the climate of the growing region. In Burgenland, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and a rather moderate must weight. After the grape harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, Hill Side White is aged for several months in French oak barrels.
