Winery I Magredi from Veneto
The winery I Magredi has been cultivating the soil and the vine with great dedication and passion since 1968 in Friuli Venezia Giulia by the Tombacco family. The current winery was purchased in 1968 by Otello Tombacco, an entrepreneur from Oderzo. In the beginning there were various crops, at that time arable land alternated with apple, peach trees and vineyards. The yield of their work was sold in the kiosk and at that time they still drove the grapes to Oderzo to process the wine. In 1985, after having obtained the diploma of farmer, Michelangelo began to work in the family business. At the end of the 1980s he changed the Magredi into the present winery.
I Magredi Terroir
The Le Grave area covers about 7,500 hectares around the Tagliamento riverbed, and extends across the provinces of Pordenone and Udine. The alluvial area in the Friulan Prealps presents itself as a unique stretch of land between the Meduna, Cellina and Tagliamento rivers. Here dominates a stony, barren soil, which was formed by the limestone material as the mountains in the north. The alluvial soil, the cold winds from the north and Mediterranean breezes from the south create an ideal environment for wine growing.
The wine cellar I Magredi
The first part of the present wine cellar was built in 1990 and then successively extended in 2000, 2003 and 2007. These included mainly technological and structural modernizations. In January 2018, the project for the construction of a new building was started. The wine cellar is equipped with the latest equipment. A plant for easy pressing, ample refrigerators available to lower the temperatures of the grapes and the processing of the musts and the wines.
I Magredi - natural viticulture with the environment
The winery I Magredi is particularly dedicated to environmental protection, in 2009 a photovoltaic system was installed, this is able to produce 12000 kWh per year, covering one third of the energy needs of the company. The company also uses wastewater treatment plants to purify the wastewater from the wine cellar and another purifier to recycle the excess water used in wine production. In the future, too, the company intends to continue along the path of environmental sustainability, using all available technologies in order to be able to use clean energy.
