The Julia Monastrell of Bodega De Moya is a full-bodied, varietal wine from the Valencia region. This red wine dedicated to his mother in law Julia.
In the glass, this wine shines in a clear ruby red with light red reflections. The bouquet reveals a multi-layered, multi-faceted aroma: juicy blackberry and raspberry meets ripe currant with gentle hints of toasted notes. Underpinning the aromas on the nose are elderberry and cedar. The fresh acidity on the palate harmonizes wonderfully with the berry, woody flavors and round, structured body. The finish is convincing with wonderful length.
Vinification of the Julia Monastrell De Moya
The Monastrell grapes for this red wine come from 60-year-old vines in vineyards of Vall d-Albaida and are carefully harvested by hand. The grapes are harvested while still in the vineyard and are picked in 15 kg boxes.
At 4 degrees Celsius, the grapes are cooled for 24 hours before the maceration begins in controlled temperature in 1000 liter wooden barrels. The fermentation process, as well as the maceration, takes about 26 to 34 days for this wine. During this process, the marc cap is regularly immersed. The aging of this Spanish red wine takes place in selected new French oak barriques for a total of 18 months.
