More information
The Kalk und Stein Pfälzer Landwein from Seckinger in the Palatinate offers a brilliant, light yellow color in the glass. Poured into a white wine glass, this white wine from Germany reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of quince, grapefruit, pomelo and lemongrass, rounded out by Mediterranean herbs, sun-warmed rock and garrigue.
On the palate, Seckinger's Kalk und Stein Pfälzer Landwein starts wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. Finally, on the finish, this white wine from the Pfalz wine-growing region delights with considerable length. There are again hints of lime and apple. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the limestone-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Seckinger Kalk und Stein Pfälzer Landwein
The basis for the elegant Kalk und Stein Pfälzer Landwein from the Palatinate are grapes from the grape varieties Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Palatinate. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of limestone. The berries for this white wine from Germany, when perfectly ripe, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the hand harvest, the grapes immediately reach the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Kalk und Stein Pfälzer Landwein is allowed to further harmonize on the fine lees for several months.
Food recommendation for the Kalk und Stein Pfälzer Landwein from Seckinger
Drink this white wine from Germany ideally well chilled at 8 - 10°C as an accompanying wine to vegetable stew with pesto, potato pan with salmon or pumpkin casserole.
