Kaloro Moscato di Trani DOC 0,375 l 2013 - Tormaresca
The Kaloro Moscato di Trani DOC from Tormaresca sparkles in the glass in an intense yellow with a golden shimmer. The bouquet at the nose seduces with delicious aromas of apricots, jam, scents of jasmine, chestnut honey. On the palate this fine dessert wine surprises with its silky texture, soft and round, accompanied by a pleasant acidity and elegant complex sweet taste aromas. The finish is long-lasting and persistently aromatic.
Vinification of Tormaresca Kaloro Moscato di Trani DOC
This traditional sweet wine from Trani in Apulia is produced from the white Moscato grape, which grows near the town of the same name. The Moscato grapes are harvested manually when they have reached the optimal degree of ripeness and are air-dried on straw mats for a period of 15 days. The drying process increases the sugar content of the grapes and intensifies the aromas of jam and honey, which form part of the fine complex notes of this wine.
The destemming is followed by soft pressing and controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation at 18-20° C. The Moscato is then aged for a year in stainless steel tanks to maximise the aromatic and qualitative potential of the grape variety, followed by a further 12 months in the bottle. Only then is the Kaloro Moscato di Trani DOC ready to be sold.
The name of the dessert wine Kaloro evokes memories of the warmth of the Puglia region, of the golden yellow colours of the sun-drenched landscapes. Moscato is one of the most appreciated grape varieties in this region for its natural sweetness and characteristic aromas, but also for its freshness and pronounced acidity, which make it unique among southern Italian sweet wines.
