The Kanzem Altenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs 1.5 l Magnum from Von Othegraven of the Moselle presents a bright, light yellow color in the glass. Swiveling the wine glass, one can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it does not stand out on the glass walls in a watery, syrupy or liqueur-like manner. Poured into a white wine glass, this white wine from Germany reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of pink grapefruit, kumquat, orange and lemongrass, rounded out by sun-warmed rock, juniper and forest floor.
The Von Othegraven Kanzem Altenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs 1,5 l Magnum presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine lover. This white wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine in the icon wine segment. On the tongue, this balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly light texture. In the finish, this white wine from the Mosel wine-growing region finally inspires with considerable length. Once again, hints of lemon and grapefruit appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the limestone-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Von Othegraven Kanzem Altenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs 1.5 l Magnum
This balanced white wine from Germany is vinified from the Riesling grape variety. In the Moselle region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone. The fact that the Riesling grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a very high influence on the ripening of the grapes. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly long and evenly ripened grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.
Food recommendation for the Kanzem Altenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs 1,5 l Magnum by Von Othegraven
This white wine from Germany is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as a companion to fruity endive salad, roasted trout with ginger pear or omelet with salmon and fennel.
