Vinification of the Bodega Familia Irurtia Km.0 Viognier Gran Reserva

This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Viognier. Only the best grapes were harvested for this exceptionally powerful single-varietal wine from Bodega Familia Irurtia. The grapes grow close to the river in Colonia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into limestone soils. Due to the balancing influence of the nearby river, the grapes ripen more slowly and develop more aromatic depth. The grapes for this white wine from Uruguay are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off.
