From the grape varieties Mencia (80%), Syrah (10%) and Tempranillo (10%), La Clave is vinified by Raul Perez from the Spanish wine region DO Bierzo.
In the glass, this wine shimmers a rich cherry red with ruby highlights. Aromatic notes of sweet ripened blackberries and juicy sour cherries unfold on the nose - accented by floral nuances. With a powerful body that has a nice bite, this Spanish red wine pampers the palate. The silky texture harmonizes perfectly with the filigree tannins and good acidity structure. The final offers a well-balanced length.
Vinification of the Raul Perez La Clave
At an altitude of 500 meters in the Spanish Bierzo, the grapes grow on soils rich in quartz and slate.
The grapes are harvested by hand from September to October and immediately taken to Raul Perez's winery. There, the must is first fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation is complete, this red wine rounds out for 12 months in French oak barrels (secondary aging).
Food recommendation for the La Clave Bierzo Raul Perez
This dry red wine from Spain is an excellent companion to hearty roasts - such as Zwiebelrostbraten - or to cozy evenings with fresh steaks from the grill.
