More information
The Domaine Berthoumieu La Fé is a first-class red wine in a crystal-clear glass. It offers a wonderfully dense, purple-red color. This Domaine Berthoumieu red wine presents all kinds of blackberries to the nose. As if that wasn't already impressive, caramel and licorice are also added due to the ageing in small wooden barrels.
The Domaine Berthoumieu La Fé is pleasantly dry for wine lovers. This red wine is never coarse or austere, but round and smooth. This dense red wine is full-bodied and multi-layered on the palate. Thanks to its vital fruit acidity, La Fé is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. On the finish, this wine from the Sud-Ouest wine-growing region, which ages well, finally delights with its beautiful length. There are again hints of blackberry. Mineral notes from the gravel and limestone-dominated soils are added in the finish.
Vinification of Domaine Berthoumieu La Fé
The basis for the powerful La Fé from France is grapes from the Tannat grape variety. The grapes grow close to the sea in Sud Ouest. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into limestone and gravel soils. Due to the moderating influence of the nearby sea, the grapes ripen more slowly and develop more aromatic complexity. After the grape harvest, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in concrete and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation for 18 months in French oak barrels. The ageing in the barrel is followed by a long maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.
