More information about La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie AOC - M. Chapoutier

The elegant La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie of M. Chapoutier shimmers into the glass with bright purple. With a bit of sideways lay, the Burgundy goblet reveals a charming garnet red hue at the rims. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling, you can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. The first nose of La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie reveals notes of blackcurrants, lilies and blackberries. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as even more fruity-balsamic nuances.

The M. Chapoutier La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 0.7 grams of residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine icon wine segment, this Frenchman naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all dryness. Aroma does not necessarily need sugar. On the tongue, this balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie flatters with a velvety mouthfeel, without at the same time lacking in juicy liveliness. The finale of this excellent aging red wine from the wine-growing region of the Rhône Valley, more precisely from Côte-Rôtie, finally impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the soils dominated by slate and loess.

Vinification of the M. Chapoutier La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie

This balanced red wine from France is vinified from the Syrah grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Rhône Valley. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of shale and loess. Of course, La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie is also determined by climate and viticultural style Côte-Rôtie. This French wine can be described in the best sense of the word as an Old World wine that is exceptionally distinguished. The ripening of the grapes for this Syrah wine is influenced to a very high degree by the climate of the growing region. In the Rhône Valley, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in concrete and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for 18 months in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for the La Mordorée Côte-Rôtie by M. Chapoutier

Drink this red wine from France best tempered at 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to Boeuf Bourguignon, lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs or spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce.
