More information about La Poja Veronese IGT - Allegrini

At the edges, this Italian red also shows a transition to garnet red. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Veneto seduces with notes of blackcurrant, plum, blueberry and plum. If we explore the aromas further, black tea, oriental spices and vanilla are added due to the influence of oak.

This dry red wine from Allegrini is for purists who like their wine dry. La Poja Veronese comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 1.9 grams of residual sugar. The La Poja Veronese reveals itself to be wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate thanks to its concise fruit acidity. The finish of this red wine from the Veneto wine-growing region, which has good ageing potential, is convincing with a beautiful finish.

Vinification of Allegrini La Poja Veronese

The basis for the powerful La Poja Veronese from Veneto is grapes from the Corvina grape variety. La Poja Veronese is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The fact that the Corvina grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has a considerable influence on the ripening of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, La Poja Veronese is aged for several months in Slavonian oak barrels. The maturation in wooden barrels is followed by extensive bottle ageing, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Recommendation for Allegrini La Poja Veronese

This Italian wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It goes perfectly with vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, stuffed peppers or duck breast with sugar snap peas.
