More information

The La Sauvageonne Grand Vin of Gerard Bertrand from the Languedoc offers a dense, pale yellow color in the glass. After the first swirl, this white wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in strong church windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this white wine from Languedoc charms with nuances of quince, papaya, Gallia melon and Nashi pear. If we trace the aromatics further, forest floor and sun-warmed rock come in, enhanced by the oak influence.

The Gerard Bertrand La Sauvageonne Grand Vin presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine drinker. This white wine never shows itself coarse or meager, but round and smooth. In the finish, this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of the Languedoc finally inspires with beautiful length. There are again hints of guava and Gallia melon.

Vinification of the Gerard Bertrand La Sauvageonne Grand Vin

This powerful white wine from France is made from Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Viognier grapes. La Sauvageonne Grand Vin is an Old World wine through and through, as this Frenchman exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The ripeness of the grapes for this wine made from Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Viognier is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Languedoc, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in large wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, La Sauvageonne Grand Vin is aged for several months in French oak barrels.

Food pairing with the Gerard Bertrand La Sauvageonne Grand Vin

This French white wine is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to coconut-lime fish curry, omelet with salmon and fennel or chickpea curry.
