More information
In the glass, La Vanidosa No.2 from Bodegas D. Mateos offers a dense, purple color. Poured into a red wine glass, this red wine from the Old World reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of black currant, blackberry, blueberry and mulberry, rounded off by cigar box, toasted barrique and oak wood contributed by aging in wooden barrels.
On the palate, Bodegas D. Mateos' La Vanidosa No.2 starts wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. On the tongue, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to its lively fruit acidity, La Vanidosa No.2 presents itself exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of La Rioja, more precisely from the Rioja DOCa, finally thrills with considerable reverberation.
Vinification of the Bodegas D. Mateos La Vanidosa No.2
The basis for the powerful La Vanidosa No.2 from La Rioja are grapes from the grape variety Garnacha. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for La Vanidosa No.2 are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective full harvesters. After the hand harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, La Vanidosa No.2 is aged for several months in oak barrels.
