The elegant Lagar de Baixo from Quinta de Baixo glides into the glass with a bright light red color. In the glass, this red wine from Quinta de Baixo reveals aromas of blackberries, complemented by forest floor, black cherry and minerals. This red wine from Quinta de Baixo is perfect for people who would prefer 0.0 grams of sugar in their wine. The Lagar de Baixo comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 0.3 grams of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully light and velvety. Thanks to the moderate fruit acidity, Lagar de Baixo has a velvety mouthfeel without lacking freshness. The finish of this well-matured red wine from the Beiras wine-growing region, or more precisely from the Bairrada DOC, is delightful with a good aftertaste.

Vinification of the Lagar de Baixo from Quinta de Baixo

This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Baga. Only the best grapes were used for this exceptionally well-balanced single-varietal wine from Quinta de Baixo. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Lagar de Baixo can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 22 months.

This red wine from Portugal is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to braised chicken in red wine, stuffed peppers or veal steak with beans and tomatoes.
