The barrel-aged Lagrein from the wine-growing region of Trentino-Alto Adige shows in the glass in bright purple. This varietal Italian wine reveals in the glass wonderfully fragrant notes of currant, blackberry, sour cherry and plum. In addition, hints of chocolate.
On the palate, the Lagrein from Popphof starts wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. On the tongue, this balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly bulky texture. The final of this red wine from the wine-growing region of Trentino-Alto Adige finally thrills with extraordinary reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the clay-dominated soils.
Vinification of Popphof Lagrein
This balanced red wine from Italy is vinified from the Lagrein grape variety. In Trentino-Alto Adige, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils made of clay. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Lagrein are harvested exclusively by hand without the use of punishing and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly transferred to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.
