Domaine Laurent Perrachon
Already in its fifth and sixth generation, the Perrachon family takes great care of the cultivation of the core grape variety Gamay and the production of excellent Beaujolais. The family's earliest roots in connection with wine and the region date back to 1601. Today, the family owns several small vineyards with a focus on Domaine des Mouilles and a total of 26 hectares under cultivation. Of these, six cru sites (Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Chenas and Saint-Amour), which they skillfully vinify together. This makes them an independent Beaujolais producer with a seemingly inexhaustible treasure trove of experience.
Harvesting is done by hand and vinification by the traditional carbonic maceration typical of Beaujolais. The wines then age slowly and gently in cellars that date back to 1702. Laurent Perrachon's wines possess breathtaking complexity and complexity, and are a remarkable reflection of their respective sites and soils. Each Beaujolais from Laurent Perrachon can be cellared for years without hesitation and will surprise even long-established wine connoisseurs!
Laurent Perrachon: a penchant for action
Since taking over the "Domaine des Mouilles", this young winemaker has always focused his energy on innovation. He has updated the family's equipment, increased the area under cultivation at the Domaine, and steadily increased the volume sold directly from the Domaine to wine lovers. He always has new projects in mind.
Until the age of 20, Laurent Perrachon, son and grandson of winemakers, spent more time on the rugby field than in the vineyard. Since Laurent became a winemaker himself in 1988, he has had to drop the rugby ball to focus on his craft. Before Laurent began working with his father Jacques, he took the time to learn about the world of winemaking. He worked at Château Ausone, where he completed an internship after graduating from high school. Then he worked as a bartender in the UK in a wine bar. Finally, he traveled to wineries in South Africa and California. "It's exciting to see what others are doing in different places. I'm curious and willing to embrace new ideas."
In deciding to follow the family tradition, Laurent has not decided to stand still, quite the opposite. Every year he invests in new equipment, in improving the cellars and in adding new packages to the domain. Today, after adding Chenas Fleurie and Saint-Amour, Laurent manages a total area of 23 hectares.
