More information
The organically produced Leithaberg Blaufränkisch DAC from Weingut Toni Hartl shines into the glass with a bright crimson red. Tilting the glass a bit, a transition of color towards garnet red can be seen at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. After the first swirl, one can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. This single varietal Austrian wine flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of blackberries, violets, black currants and sour cherries. These are joined by hints of tobacco.
This red from Weingut Toni Hartl is ideal for all wine lovers who like it dry. At the same time, however, it never appears meager or brittle, as one would naturally expect in a wine premium and site wine segment. On the palate, the texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully velvety. With its present fruit acidity, the Leithaberg Blaufränkisch DAC reveals itself impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria finally thrills with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the limestone and clay dominated soils.
Vinification of the winery Toni Hartl Leithaberg Blaufränkisch DAC
This balanced red wine from Austria is organically vinified from the Blaufränkisch grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Lower Austria. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay and limestone. Leithaberg Blaufränkisch DAC is an Old World wine through and through, as this Austrian breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Leithaberg Blaufränkisch DAC are harvested exclusively by hand without the aid of coarse and barely selective full harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully milled. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
