More information

The Leutschach Sauvignon Blanc Südsteiermark DAC by Erwin Sabathi from Styria reveals a brilliant, light yellow color in the swirled glass. After the first swirl, this white wine is characterized by a wonderful brilliance that makes it dance lively in the glass. The nose of this white wine from Styria seduces with notes of gooseberry and white currant. If we trace the aromatics further, sun-warmed rocks, gingerbread spice and cinnamon come in.

This Austrian wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 1.2 grams of residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a wine in the top wine range, this Austrian naturally enraptures with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. On the tongue, this light-footed white wine is characterized by an incredibly light texture. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Leutschach Sauvignon Blanc Südsteiermark DAC flatters the palate with a soft feeling, without lacking juicy liveliness. The finish of this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Styria, more precisely from southern Styria, finally impresses with good reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the soils dominated by limestone and clay.

Vinification of the Leutschach Sauvignon Blanc Südsteiermark DAC by Erwin Sabathi

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Sauvignon Blanc. Only immaculate grapes were harvested for this exceptionally elegant single-varietal wine from Erwin Sabathi. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Styria. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of sand, limestone, slate, clay and marl. Clearly, the Leutschach Sauvignon Blanc Südsteiermark DAC is also determined by the climate and viticultural style of southern Styria. This Austrian can be described in the best sense of the word as an Old World wine that presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive manner. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the Leutschach Sauvignon Blanc Südsteiermark DAC is aged for another 11 months in large oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Leutschach Sauvignon Blanc Südsteiermark DAC by Erwin Sabathi

Enjoy this white wine from Austria ideally well chilled at 8 - 10°C as an accompaniment to wok vegetables with fish, omelet with salmon and fennel or pumpkin casserole.
