Lis Neris - Passionate winery with a heart for nature

Located in the middle of the picturesque village of San Lorenzo, it brings the spirit of nature of this special wine region into the bottle. The Pecorari family has owned the estate since 1879. From generation to generation, the dedication to winemaking and the sensitive preservation of the local terroirs have been passed down. Today, Alvaro Pecorari is the heart and soul of the winery, now in its fifth generation. He has led the winery into the modern age, always with the aim of producing wines of refined quality. The white wines of Lis Neris show the typical balanced character of the region best. The Lis Neris winery has already won numerous prizes, including the gold medal at the Decanter World Wines Award 2008 and seven other awards from Gambero Rosso.

How and where do the vines of Lis Neris grow? 

70 hectares of vineyards, between the Slovenian border and the right bank of the river Isonzo, belong to the Lis Neris winery. Gravelly soils, the Mediterranean climate and the resulting high number of sunshine hours promise a balanced ripening of the grapes. Characteristic are also the dry and mostly gusty Bora winds, which have a very favourable effect on the aromatic concentration in the grapes. Lis Neris has specialised in the cultivation of powerful varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. However, varieties typical of the region, such as Picol and Gris, are also cultivated. The wines are characterized by their special balance and complexity.

Lis Neris is a front runner when it comes to placing value on wine production that works with nature. Although modern technology is also used at Lis Neris, nature is always treated with great respect. Chemical fertilizers are not used. And all varieties typical of the region are exclusively harvested by hand. Not only the vines draw their goodness from the sun, but also the Lis Neris winery itself uses solar energy from solar panels.
