In the glass, the Ludi Offida from Velenosi presents a dense purple-red color. If you tilt the glass slightly, you can see a transition of the color towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. When the glass is swirled, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in the strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. This Italian cuvée reveals wonderfully expressive notes of blackberries, mulberries, morello cherries and blueberries in the glass. There are also hints of oriental spices, black tea and cinnamon.
The Velenosi Ludi Offida is wonderfully dry for wine connoisseurs. This red wine is never coarse or austere, but round and smooth. The finish of this well-matured red wine from the Marche wine-growing region impresses with a beautiful aftertaste.
Vinification of the Ludi Offida from Velenosi
The starting point for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Ludi Offida cuvée from Velenosi is Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano grapes. Ludi Offida is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The fact that the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano grapes thrive in a warm climate also has a major influence on the ripening of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Ludi Offida is matured for a few months in French oak barrels.
