Already at the beginning of the 19th century, the Chapoutier family, who originated from France, dedicated themselves to winemaking. Since then, the family members have been tending the vineyards in the Rhône valleys.
M. Chapoutier Winery - First do, then hope
This is the motto of the winemakers from the M. Chapoutier winery. And they have set themselves the highest goal: To find the recipe for the perfect wine. To achieve this goal, an oenologist needs not only the necessary willpower and courage to take risks, but also a little bit of luck. A very ambitious challenge, therefore, which M. Chapoutier's winegrowers rise to every day. In 1990, Michel Chapoutier took over the estate from his parents. He is the one who continues the success story and is constantly working to establish the winery. He also tries to create his own wine creations individually.
An architect of characters
Michel Chapoutier does not lack the necessary courage to create something new. He gives his wines a completely individual character through small experiments. The vineyards are mainly planted with native and pure grape varieties, such as:
- Grenache
- Mourvedre
- Syrah
- Grenache Blanc
- Roussanne
- Ugni Blanc
- Vermentino
- Viognier
All efforts have paid off so far. The Chapoutier brand and its wine creations are particularly appreciated by wine connoisseurs. It is also important to the winegrower that his products represent the diversity of flavours of the Rhône. Products such as the delicious red wine called Barbe Rac Châteauneuf du Pape, for example, meet this requirement. But also the wine varieties Rasteau Côtes du Rhône Villages or Belleruche Côtes du Rhône are very popular among wine lovers.
Chapoutier is Biodynamic: now and tomorrow
Michel Chapoutier wants to continue to meet his high standards in the future. Respect for nature plays an important role on the estate. Pesticides and artificial fertilisers are avoided, for example. Instead, the winery focuses on biodynamic cultivation, which gives Chapoutier wines their unique character. Grape varieties such as Marsanne, Grenache or Syrah ripen in constant harmony with nature. These wines are the basis for all the varied products produced by the family business. The estate's vineyards are now not only at home in France. Vines from the Chapoutier family also thrive in Australia and Portugal. A diversity that is certainly also an important reason why experienced wine critics such as Robert Parker praise the winery in high tones.
