Manditocai Friulano Collio DOC 2018 - Livon
The Manditocai Friulano Collio DOC from Livon appears in a straw yellow glass with golden reflections. The intense bouquet on the nose releases the scent of peach leaves, nutmeg and spicy aromas. On the palate, this noble white cru from Friuli presents itself fine, pleasantly soft, full-bodied, of lively, varietal freshness, supported by a beautiful acidity and minerality, which gives the wine a good structure. In the long aftertaste all the aromas of Collio unfold with lightness, mineral and salty notes and the typical bitter almond aroma.
Vinification of Manditocai Friulano Collio DOC from Livon
The Manditocai vineyard of the same name in the village of Ruttars in the municipality of Dolegna del Collio gives its name to this multiple award-winning Cru. The grape variety Tocai Friulano thrives here on clay marl and loamy soils. The grape harvest is carried out selectively and exclusively by hand, the grapes are collected in boxes, brought to the cellar and pressed there as a whole grape, without turning, only by slowly and gradually increasing the pressure.
The resulting must is collected in a stainless steel tank, cold decanted over 24 hours and then divided, 50% is transferred to stainless steel tanks for the alcoholic fermentation, 50% to Hungarian oak barriques. The Hungarian oak barriques are characterized by a very fine wood and a very delicate roasting, optimal conditions for the final product. After 8 months of ageing, the wine is bottled.
The Manditocai Friulano has a shelf life of 10 to 15 years.
