In the glass, the Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva from Tenuta Tignanello reveals a dense ruby red color. Swirling the glass, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in the clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Tuscany seduces with notes of morello cherry, plum, black cherry and damson. If we continue to explore the aromas, the oak wood adds gingerbread spice, dark chocolate and black tea.
This Italian wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine from the Icon wine segment, this Italian wine naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need sugar. This dense, silky, velvety and melting red wine is full-bodied and complex on the palate. On the finish, this young wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region impresses with its exceptional length. Once again, there are hints of mulberry and plum. Mineral notes from the limestone and marl-dominated soils are added to the finish.
Vinification of the Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva from Tenuta Tignanello
The starting point for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva cuvée from Tenuta Tignanello is Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone and marl soils in Tuscany. The Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimum ripeness. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden vats at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is aged for a further 24 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels. The ageing in oak barrels is followed by a long bottle ageing period, which makes this red wine even more complex.
