Vinification of the Marchese Antinori Cuvée Royal Franciacorta from Tenuta Montenisa
The basis for the elegant Marchese Antinori Cuvée Royal Franciacorta from Lombardy are grapes from the Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir grape varieties. Naturally, the Marchese Antinori Cuvée Royal Franciacorta is also influenced by the climate and the Franciacorta DOCG winegrowing style. This Italian can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, which presents itself in an exceptionally impressive way. The ripening of the grapes for this wine made from Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Lombardy, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate must weight. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Marchese Antinori Cuvée Royal Franciacorta are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and gently pressed. The base wines are then fermented. Once the final spumante has been blended, the wine is aged using the classic bottle fermentation method. This is followed by bottle ageing for 36 months.
